Those Who Wait
Some shrug off the mundane of life
To conquer nature in her glory
Others escape through Their accounts
But they tell not all the story
What of those who wait at home
The daughter, wife or mother?
The shackles cast aside by one
Weigh heavy on another

Thank you, Michael.
I wrote that one when a friend of mine was in a bit of a state because her hubby had gone off hillwalking alone. When the weather turned bad and he hadn’t called her, she started to worry.

“The shackles cast aside by one – Weigh heavy on another”
I like that phrasing. I’ve read this several times and each time find different stories in the words. I find it fascinating that your inspiration for the poem told a completely different story to me.xx

Yes, that’s one of the things I love about poetry. It can reach different people for different reasons. As long as it reaches someone I am happy. 🙂
Thank you x
