 Hello, and welcome to the 10^th day of my two week-long, “JUST MY TWO CENTS” Blog Tour  and  today I’m here with a new friend and fellow member who was kind enough to allow me space to chat with you all.  Christine, thank you so much for having me and any time I can return the favor, you just throw a date at me!

Next month will mark the anniversary of my burst onto the social media scene and during that time, I have published three REALLY GOOD books and have learned so very much about the industry.  Although I’ve been a writer for most of my life (actually, I was born one), I only just became a published author in 2013.  Some might say, “In that short amount of time, what does she know?” Well, I’m here to tell you that “SHE” has learned a lot!  “SHE” has taken the time to hone her skills in the writing department as well as her knowledge.  “SHE” has taken the bull by the horn and run full speed ahead in building her author platform and establishing herself in the writing industry.  “SHE” is making her name KNOWN.

On each stop of my tour, I will give you my TWO-CENTS on a particular topic from the writing industry.  I hope that what I am imparting, you will take, mull over, and then act on in the best interest of YOU.

With that being said, here is JUST MY TWO CENTS ON…

“CRITICS:  CAN’T LIVE WITH THEM, CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT THEM”

Everyone’s a critic these days.  Some are well-intentioned and others, well, let’s just say they have “intentions,” and some times, those intentions are used for no good at all.

My husband likes to call me a critic, and I gladly respond with, “I resemble that remark!” BUT, I am a critic of the best kind!  I don’t criticize as much as I critique, and there is a difference between the two, my loves.  Let me define the both of them:

Critique:  A detailed analysis and assessment of something, esp. a literary, philosophical, or political theory;

Criticize:  Indicate the faults (of someone or something) in a disapproving way.

So, now can you see why I consider myself to be a part of the Critique Club as opposed to having my membership aligned with those who criticize?  When I personally speak to someone about their work, I mean, when I actually take time out of my extremely busy schedule to speak with someone about their work, I only aim to help.  What would I gain by criticizing?  Nothing at all.  I gain nothing because these people don’t live in my house, they’re not breathing my air and whether their work is good or bad, doesn’t affect me at all.  So when I step outside of my busy to offer critiques, it’s to enhance the work of that person, so that their work is propelled to its highest heights.

Someone who goes around criticizing others, without so much as a pinky finger lifted beforehand to help them get better, are the ones you need to be careful of.  These people set out with the intentions to seek and destroy.  Why they do that, I have not the answer but I can only surmise that they are miserable little souls, and we know just how much Mr. & Mrs. Misery love company.  But, don’t let this ugly couple get you down.  Do your best to ensure that your work is the best, and as my Grammy used to say, when you know what you know what you know you know, nothing the critics say or do could ever cloud the skies of your sunshine-filled day!  I want you to know that there are good critics and there are bad critics.  The good ones can propel you higher and the bad ones can bring you down low…if you allow them to. Just remember…Critics:  You can’t live with them and you can’t live without them.
